Photos, call records confirm Sanu, aides closing in on Kevin

Kottayam: The prosecution in the Kevin murder case has submitted in court more evidence on the presence of killer gang in Kerala’s Kottayam district on May 27-28, 2018, when the crime was committed. The gang was led by first accused Sanu Chacko, the brtother of Kevin's fiance Neenu.
Photos of Sanu and third accused Ishan Ismail and their ID cards were recognised by M N Ajayakumar, former civil police officer at the Gandhinagar station in Kottayam.
Ajayakumar informed the court that a vehicle inspection was carried out on Sanu's car at Mannanam in Kottayam on May 26. Both were questioned and their photos were also taken, and these have been identified in court.
The call records of the accused also prove that they were in Kottayam on the fateful day.
Second accused Niyas Mon had called Kevin at 10.32pm on May 26, Bharti Airtel circle zonal officer K Vasudevan gave statement in court. The voice recording of the threatening call was also submitted in court.
One hour prior to the kidnapping, Kevin had spoken to Neenu over the phone. They spoke for nearly two hours from 11.30pm to 1.30am. Kevin was kidnapped by the accused from his house around 2.30am.
The Airtel officer also gave statement that Sanu's phone was within the range of Mannanam tower around 1.30am on May 27. The phone of sixth accused Manu Muraleedharan was in the Medical College area around 1.11am. Manu made a phone call, from within the range of Piravanthoor mobile tower, to 11th accused Fazal Sherif around 6.42am.
The Airtel officer also gave statement that 18 calls were made from Manu's phone to Sanu's.
Kottayam youth Kevin P Joseph was kidnapped by a gang allegedly on the instructions of his fiancee Neenu’s family on May 27, 2018. He was found dead in a river in Kollam district the next day. Neenu’s brother Sanu and father are accused in the case.
