Students of various medical colleges in Kerala have started strikes protesting the authorities' decision to go ahead with final year exams without a sufficient number of classes.
Students of Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) had on Sunday boycotted an exam and staged a sit-in.
Later, students of the Government Medical College and KMCT Medical College in Kozhikode protested before their institutions and have vowed to continue it on Monday if the authorities concerned did not accept their demands.
The students are alleging that the authorities are conducting the exams after just six months of clinical classes, while 10-12 months of classes were required to complete the portions.
The final year exams are underway and according to Aqif Nasim, general secretary, Kozhikode Government Medical College Union, “73% of students in Kerala did not write their exams”.
The next exam is scheduled to be held Tuesday. As per the schedule, the final exam is to be held on April 20.
