Engineering college owner's suicide: Phone data indicate earlier attempts at suicide, DNA results awaited

A day after the charred body of a man, suspected to be of E Mohammad Thaha, the chairman of the P A Aziz College of Engineering and Technology, was found in the partially constructed building near the college, the police suspect that he may have attempted suicide earlier also. The cyber wing which examined the mobile phone of Thaha has reportedly communicated to the investigating officials that old notes stored in the phone hinted at attempts at ending life.
The police officials said that this needs to be confirmed before arriving at a conclusion. The police also received leads that he had purchased petrol from a fuel outlet. The cops are collecting surveillance footage to corroborate the information.
The police have almost established the identity of the body as of Thaha from the circumstantial evidence gathered from the scene. DNA samples were collected on Tuesday, and the identity will be confirmed upon arrival of the DNA test results. The police did a thorough inspection of his room and house, and so far, no suicide note has been recovered. The cops have also received information that Thaha was facing financial troubles, which may have led him to commit suicide.
Security staff of the college spotted the burnt remains of a human body in the building after they saw smoke emanating from inside. The body, which was 95% charred, was found in a godown of a partially constructed building near the college amidst a heap of burnt tyres.
