Thiruvananthapuram: The results of Kerala higher secondary examinations were announced on Tuesday. A total of 80.94 per cent of candidates became eligible for higher education.

The pass percentage of vocational higher secondary (VHSE) candidates stood at 79.03 where the students became eligible for higher studies passing all the three parts. 87.72 per cent students earned the trade certificate by clearing part 1 and part 2.

In higher secondary section, the pass percentage has come down slightly compared to previous year's rate (83.96).

The 'Save a year (SAY) examinations' will be held from June 2 to June 8.

125 students with 100 per cent marks

As many as 9,870 students scored A+ grades for all subjects in the HSC exam. Out of them, 70 per cent are girl students. As many as 125 students scored 100 per cent marks in the examinations.

Kannur is the district which registered maximum pass percentage -- 84.86. Pathanamthitta (72.4 %) registered the lowest pass percentage.

After the results were published, higher secondary education director said that students were given minimal moderation marks.

The results were announced by Kerala chief secretary S.M. Vijayanand. With the model code of conduct in place for the upcoming assembly polls, education minister P.K. Abdu Rabb stayed away from the press meet.

For Plus One aspirants

Details of single-window entry (Ekajalakam) to Plus One classes were also made public on Tuesday. Eligible students can start submitting applications for Plus One from May 17 onwards.

Last date for submitting application forms will be May 31.

The trial allotment in 'Ekajalakam' will take place on June 7 and the first allotment will be on June 13. The Plus One classes will commence on June 27.

The pass percentage went down compared to previous year's results this time. The board of examinations had decided to allot moderation for higher secondary students.
