Mohammed Arfas

Kochi: Even after visiting the police station for three consecutive days, Mohammed Arfas could not get the North police to get his complaint registered against goons who had assaulted him.

The police offered to settle the case and waited without taking action until senior police officers intervened. The case was filed on Tuesday night.

Arfas was injured following an argument near Kaloor in Ernakulam. After injuring him in the head, goons even threatened him after following him to the hospital. The youngster, at the receiving end, then went to the central police station. However, the police there said that the fight had not happened in their jurisdiction and sent him to North station. There, the police did not bother to register the case for three days.

After the attackers threatened his parents, Arfas complained to DCP Arul Krishna and the case was registered by the police.

Even after creating an anti-goon squad, the police, however, seems inclined to settle cases involving goons rather than taking action against them.
