Thiruvananthapuram: Giving new dimensions to the tussle between Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy and opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan, their advocates were engaged in a face-off at a court here on Thursday.
The altercation took place when the court was considering a plea by Chandy against Achuthanandan.
"The CM is not an accused in any case. Achuthanandan thinks he can raise any allegation," Chandy's lawyer said.
To which, the VS' advocate retorted by saying that he was willing to take up the challenge and prove that the CPM leader's allegations were true.
However, he requested that the court should not consider the current news reports as evidence in the case.
The bench was then forced to intervene and asked both counsels to refrain from making unnecessary statements.
Chandy had approached the Thiruvananthapuram additional district court stating that Achuthanandan was raising false allegations against him, thereby maligning his image. The court had earlier rejected Chandy's plea seeking immediate action against VS.
