Thiruvananthapuram: An Additional Sessions Court here Monday sentenced 11 RSS workers to double life term for the murder of CPM worker Vishnu that took place 8 years ago. One of the accused has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The accused have been ordered to give Rs 3 lakh each to the kin of the slain CPM activist Vishnu who was murdered on April 1, 2008 at Kaithamukku in Vanchiyoor.

The court had last Friday found 13 RSS activists guilty in the murder.

Additional Sessions Court judge T.K. Unnimol pronounced the quantum of sentence Monday.

According to the prosecution, the accused, armed with swords, iron rods and other weapons, attacked Vishnu and killed him. As many as sixteen persons were accused in the case.

While one accused died in 2008, another was acquitted by the court Friday and one is absconding.

Charges against the accused include that of murder, conspiracy and unlawful assembly.
