District Collector Dr Renu Raj issued prohibitory orders in six villages bordering the jungle in the Thirunelli Village Panchayat on Thursday.
Manorama News reported that the forest department sources tracked the elephant near the Chembakapadi region of the forest.
The protesters, the majority of whom were farmers, carried a black banner which read “Kattu Neethi Kattil Mathi” (Laws of the jungle should stay in the jungle).
The trackers are trying to scare away the other Makhna using crackers but the elephant being roguish in its behaviour often charges towards the source of fire crackers
Workers are demanding clarity on their job status and repealing of the order of the Director terminating the services of two employees.
Around six villages including Alathur, Surabhikavala, Sasimala ,Mullankolly villages in the region are gripped by the tiger scare.
