On Thursday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the final Budget of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government prior to the general elections. This was her sixth consecutive Budget. Being an interim budget, Sitharaman did not announce any change in the rates of direct or indirect taxes, which means the Income tax slab and excise duty remained the same.
