Gautam Krishna had gone missing while taking a bath in the Kayamkulam canal to the west of Choolatheruvu.
The deceased is Eroor native K M Manesh, son of Mani and Shantha.
Chief Minister M K Stalin, conveying his condolences to the bereaved, announced a solatium of Rs 2 lakh to each of the families of the five deceased.
The deceased have been identified as Lijo Jose (34) and his son Nebin Jose (4).
At least two children with Canadian passports were among the victims, said Police.
The disaster struck a day before Nidin's wedding on Wednesday when he visited Kandassankadavu to meet a friend.
They were part of a 30-student group of from Jyothis Central School, Manjapra.
The teenagers were from Chettikulangara in the Alappuzha district.
Though local people reached the spot and rushed them to Adimali Taluk Hospital, their life could not be saved.
"The whole mock drill was a sham. They did not even have basic rescue equipment," a local, who claims to have been on the spot during the accident, told Manorama News.
