Internal disagreements over a kerosene price revision have derailed Kerala's public distribution plans, leaving dealers reluctant to procure and distribute stock.

Retail ration dealers were reluctant to engage in kerosene distribution considering the steep transportation charges and negligible commission.
The civil supplies department confirmed that all ration shops have adequate stock.
The trader associations have claimed that since 2018, neither the commission nor wages have been revised, and the government has failed to fulfil several promises made in phases.
He emphasised that the strike could undermine efforts to enhance the Ration Dealers' Welfare Fund Scheme and diversify the sector.
The mustering is for yellow and pink ration cardholders.
