Madagascar, with a population of 25 million, has become one of the countries severely impacted by the consequences of climate change.
Marine scientists warned that a fourth global mass coral bleaching event is likely unfolding in the Southern Hemisphere, driven by warming waters, and could be the worst in the planet's history.
As per the alert, the maximum temperature in Palakkad, Kollam and Pathanamthitta will soar to 38 degrees Celsius.
It is also forecasted that the temperature may increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the affected areas in the next few days.
The temperature is expected to drop in the subsequent days, the weather department predicted.
IMD has warned that temperatures are likely to touch 37 degree Celsius in Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur districts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As per the alert, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur will record a maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.
The government also urged the people to wear loose clothes and add more fruits and salads to their diet.
Punalur recorded the highest temperatures in the country on January 15 to 19 and 21, 22, 24, 30, and 31.
Delayed trains include the Varanasi-Delhi Vande Bharat Express and Rajendranagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.
