Young MT would walk for miles in search of books. He would borrow money to buy books. And he idolized the writers. MT wanted to be like them. Excerpts from interview.
MT was awarded the Jnanpith Award for his overall contribution to literature in 1995 and in 2005, he was decorated with the country's third highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan.
