Finnish delegation to study Kerala's education model

Thiruvananthapuram: A Finnish delegation has now landed in Kerala to understand more about the general education sector here, after experts from Kerala visited Finland to study the latter's education model.

The group of five headed by the Finnish ambassador in India first visited the venue of the ongoing State School Youth Festival.

Education Minister V Sivankutty welcomed the team who will be in the state capital until Thursday. The delegation would hold meetings and discussions with various agencies of the Department of General Education regarding primary education, Maths and Science learning methods, teachers' training, evaluation criteria and research.

Besides this, the Finnish experts will observe the functioning of these agencies. They will also visit the higher offices of the General Education Department and the state office of Samagra Shiksha Keralam (SSK), a collaborative project of the centre and the state, on Tuesday. The delegation will meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on December 8.
