Thiruvananthapuram: Students who fail in Class 12 examination can now cancel the course registration and seek readmission by selecting another subject combination of their choice. The State Government has amended the higher secondary examination manual to facilitate this.

Presently, only Class 11 students are allowed to cancel the course registration and opt for another subject combination (in the first year). Those students who have appeared for the Class 11 examination and promoted to Class 12, so far, had only the option to reappear for the examination upon failing the Class 12 examination. They could not cancel existing course registration and secure admission again in another subject combination.

The new amendment was brought in after many students failed to pass the examination with the original subject combination, despite repeated attempts.

It is through school authorities that the students should submit applications for canceling course registration as per the new amendment.
