Careers in apparel sector: Apply now for programmes at ATDCs

The Apparel Training and Design Centres (ATDCs) under the Central Textiles Ministry offer training for candidates to pursue a career in the apparel sector. The centres are located in various parts of the country. Applications have now been invited to the BVoc and diploma programmes at the Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur centres. The online applications could be submitted until May 15.

BVoc

ATDCs conduct the three-year BVoc (Bachelor of Vocational Degree) in Fashion Design and Retail programme in association with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development.

Eligibility to apply for the course is a pass in Class 12 (Plus Two). The semester fee is Rs 44,250, and the registration fee is Rs 400. A screening test will be conducted on May 22 as part of the selection, followed by an interview.

Diploma courses

There are two branches for the one-year diploma programme at the Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur ATDCs. They are:

• Fashion design technology: After completing this diploma course successfully, students can engage in professions such as designer, merchandiser, and pattern maker.

• Apparel manufacturing technology: This qualification enables students to work as production executives, quality controllers, and industrial engineering assistants.

Eligibility for these programmes also requires a pass in Class 12 (Plus Two). The course fee is Rs 95,000, which could be paid in two installments, while the registration fee is Rs 1,500.
