Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has increased the grace marks to be allotted in the Higher Secondary Examinations for cadets of the National Cadet Corps attending various camps and training programmes at the national level.

The grace marks for cadets attending the Republic Day Parade camp, Taal Sainik Camp, All-India Nau Sainik Camp, and youth exchange programme, etc have been raised to 40 from 25.

Similarly, the grace marks to be allotted for those attending any one of the other major events such as national integration camp, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, rock-climbing training camp, advanced leadership camp, basic leadership camp, trekking camp, attachment camps, basic para courses, and centrally organised camps, etc has been raised to 30 from 25.

The grace marks for cadets with a minimum parade attendance of 75%, meanwhile, have been retained at 20.

While considering a petition by Sidharth S Kumar, a Plus-Two student with the Mambaram Higher Secondary School in Kannur against the slashing of grace marks, the Kerala High Court directed the General Education Department to review its decision.

Based on this directive, the Director of the General Education Department made a recommendation with regard to raising the grace marks.
