Ma'din Academy, a renowned educational institution based in Malappuram, is set to participate in a series of events at the United Nations headquarters in New York, coinciding with the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit and the UN General Assembly.

Umer Melmuri, director of the International Interfaith Harmony Initiative and Global Relations, will attend special programmes on Wednesday and Thursday at the UN.

On Monday, he joined the trilateral partnership of regional faith-based networks for the SDGs, at the world body’s central office.

These faith-inspired events will shine a spotlight on the meaningful engagement of religious and faith actors, women of faith, and youth in addressing concerns such as tropical deforestation, racism, and sustainable development.

Sayyid Ibraheemul Khaleel Al Bukhari, chairman of Ma'din Academy, in a statement said Ma'din Academy's participation underscores its dedication to fostering interfaith cooperation, promoting sustainable development, and contributing to the global effort to attain the SDGs.

In a statement Ma'din Academy said it had maintained close collaborations with various UN bodies and other international organisations to promote harmony among diverse faiths through the International Interfaith Harmony Initiative.
