The fiscal year 2023-24 operating profit zoomed to Rs 22.94 crore from Rs 5.35 crore in FY23.

The KMRL management is eyeing a daily footfall of 1.5 lakh in 2025. "Our target was 1 lakh passengers daily last year. We could achieve it through collective efforts. Standardisation of ticket fares, concession for students, social media campaign, proper service and passengers' cooperation are among the factors which helped us achieve the target," Loknath Behera, MD, KMRL, said. KMRL is planning to digitalise ticketing completely this year in a bid to attract more youths, he added.

Behera said the work on the Water Metro terminals at Ernakulam and Mattanchery will be completed this year.
