Apply for science research at Tata Institute now

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is one of the prominent deemed universities in the country known for excellent research facilities in science and other subjects. The Mumbai-based institute has sub-centres in various parts of the country.

If interested to enrol for MSc and integrated MSc– PhD programmes at TIFR by availing scholarships/stipends, you may submit applications by November 23.

Separate applications are required for each course.

The graduate school entrance tests for subjects other than the science streams would be held at more than 25 centres on December 8.

Exam centres are at Kochi, Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi.

The 3-hour test for Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Wildlife courses would be held in the morning session, while the 2-hour Mathematics and Biology entrance tests would be in the afternoon session.

Besides the entrance test score, the GATE/NET/JEST/JGEEBILS scores too would be considered for securing admissions for Physics, Chemistry and Biology streams.

Final-year students too can apply for these programmes.

Duration of the PhD course is– 5 years and that of the integrated PHd is 6 years.

The classes start on August 1, next year.

PhD candidates would get a monthly stipend between Rs 21,000 - Rs 35,000. The students of integrated PhD would get between Rs 16,000 and Rs 35,000. Accommodation facilities for minimal charges would be available for students.

Candidates opting for MSc Biology and MSc Wildlife would be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 16,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively.

Computer and System Sciences: PhD at Mumbai.

Science courses: PhD at Mumbai.
