Pinarayi Vijayan slams Muslim League, warns about perils of dangerous political alliances

Malappuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday criticised the Muslim League for yielding to communal forces. "In the future, these communal forces will consume the League as a whole. If it (League) fails to recognise that this type of politics is dangerous, a major disaster will occur," the Chief Minister warned. He made these remarks while inaugurating the general meeting of the CPM Malappuram district conference.
"The Sunni faction has always kept Jamaat-e-Islami at a distance, but now they are collaborating with the UDF. The Muslim League is now antagonistic towards them. This is a perilous situation," Pinarayi Vijayan pointed out. The Chief Minister emphasised that they would not engage in any political misconduct for the sake of securing a few votes.
"Minority communalism is not the solution to majority communalism. Both forms of communalism reinforce each other. While minority rights must be protected, this does not require submission to communalism. Secularism is the antidote to communalism," Pinarayi clarified.
