Abinesh, 19, from Keezhukkunnu and Vishnu, 19, from Puthuppally were arrested based on a complaint from the girl who studied in the same college as Abinesh. The police are looking for the youngster who let the duo ride his motorbike to stalk the girl.
Abinesh had earlier proposed to the girl from Changanassery but she rejected his overtures, the police said. On Wednesday evening, Abinesh and his friend Vishnu followed the girl as she left the college on her scooter. They were on the motorbike of the third accused.
They waylaid the girl near Kurichi and asked her to ride with Abinesh. When she refused, Abinesh snatched the ignition key from her scooter. The girl had no option but to ride pillion with him on the scooter as he wanted but she jumped off the scooter as Abinesh was starting it. Both of them fell down. The people in the area were drawn by the commotion and they let the girl go home after holding the boys back.
However, the stalkers were not done yet. They followed the girl again and found her speaking on the phone to her relatives a few kilometers away. The frightened girl veered off to an alley to escape the duo but the scooter just stopped. Abinesh and Vishnu caught up with her and demanded that she heed her suitor's proposal.
They even held her by the hands. The girl fell from her scooter again, forcing the duo to flee the scene as a crowd gathered.
The next day, the girl went to the police accompanied by her parents and lodged a complaint. Sub-inspector of police Anoop C Nair and team nabbed the duo in the afternoon.
