Ram Gopal Yadav reinstated in Samajwadi Party Ram Gopal Yadav

Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Thursday revoked the six-year expulsion of senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav.

The decision was taken by SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Ram Gopal would also continue to be the leader of the SP parliamentary group in the Rajya Sabha and also remain the national general secretary and national spokesman, all posts he held prior to his sudden expulsion from the party last month.

He was expelled from the party in October amid a raging war between Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle, state unit chief Shivpal Singh Yadav.

The action was taken against him after he publicly wrote letters in favor of Akhilesh and even accused Mulayam of being "surrounded by demonic forces" and "being jealous of the popularity of his son".

In a recent press conference in Etawah, Ram Gopal has broken down and had said that he will always remain a SP member as he was the one who selected its flag, the party symbol and also drafted its constitution 25 years ago.

A hint of rapprochement was visible on Wednesday during the demonetization debate in Rajya Sabha when Ram Gopal spoke as an SP member and no body from his party opposed him.
