Party unperturbed over reports of joint candidate being fielded by newly formed Twenty20-AAP alliance.
Sabu, who is the chief coordinator of Twenty20, said the coalition will soon announce a common candidate for the Thrikkakara bypoll.
CPM district committee member K S Arunkumar is the party's reported first choice. M Swaraj is also a strong contender.
The bypoll was necessitated with the death of senior Congress leader P T Thomas on December 22 last year.
The duo, who tried to smuggle 2.23 kg of gold through Cochin International Airport, were absconding.
The State unit of AAP has already submitted a report to the central committee highlighting the possibility of striking an alliance with Twenty20.
