The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an Orange alert in two districts for Thursday- Kannur and Kasaragod.
Kozhikode, Kannur, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur are expected to receive extremely heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
The official assumption is that their boat was stranded in the sea.
The average temperatures observed pan-India for April was 35.05 degrees, which was the fourth highest in 122 years.
A yellow alert has been issued for 10 districts on Friday - Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Palakkad, and Wayanad districts.
The southern districts of Kerala will receive heavy spells of rain on April 13 and 14.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala on April 11, 13 and 14.
IMD has predicted rainfall in the State till April 12 and has asked to exercise caution, especially on Saturday.
All districts, except Kasaragod, will receive heavy rain and experience strong winds over the next five days, warns IMD.
The public have been asked to exercise caution as lightning can lead to injuries or loss of life.
