Fishing vessels and equipment should be moved to safer places and under no circumstance should the public visit beaches or venture into the sea, warned INCOIS.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre, the waves hitting the shore till 8.30 pm on Friday could be between 1.4m and 2m high.
The study was jointly done by National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), and Larsen and Toubro.
From robotics show and helicopter rides to scuba diving and music concerts, the 10-day event is expected to attract around 5 lakh people.
Holidaymakers have been advised to avoid visits to beaches and wading into the waters.

Beach grooming is a widespread practice that involves the use of large tractors fitted with rakes to clear debris and seaweeds off beaches.
