Hello
Both the orbiters orbit the moon in a nearly polar orbit and hence, both the spacecraft come close to each other over the Lunar poles.
Chandrayaan-2 was launched on July 22, 2019 and inserted into the lunar orbit on August 20.
Sivan stated this while answering questions from Malayala Manorama's child readers through its ‘Hi Kids' initiative. Though hundreds of children had sent their questions, Sivan answered the best questions selected by 'Hi Kids' editorial team.
As a part of its Moon landing mission Chandrayaan-2, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had to prepare an artificial moon surface so that the Vikram lander and Pragyaan rover could be tested.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh also said it is wrong to term Chandrayaan-2 as a disappointment since it was India's maiden attempt to land on the lunar surface and no country could do so in its first attempt.
NASA has found India's Chandrayaan-2's Vikram lander, which crashed on the surface of the Moon in September, the US space agency said on Tuesday, crediting a Chennai-based mechanical engineer for helping it trace the debris.
NASA released an image taken by its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) that showed the site of the spacecraft's impact.
Citizen science involves the collection and analysis of data relating to the natural world by members of the general public.
Vikram Lander crash-landed on the moon's surface after its guidance software went kaput, according to an internal report presented to the Space Commission.
On September 7, ISRO attempted a soft landing of Chandrayaan-2's 'Vikram' on the unchartered lunar south pole, before losing communication with the lander.
