Sources close to the party hinted that the Kerala unit will take a decision on ending its links with Gowda in its meeting on October 27 in Kochi.
The JDS patriarch triggered a political storm in Kerala by claiming that CM Pinarayi Vijayan had consented to JDS-BJP alliance in Karnataka.
In a statement issued hours after the controversy, the Chief Minister today asked Gowda to correct his statement.
Deve Gowda stated on Thursday that Pinarayi Vijayan had given full concurrence to JDS to move forward in Karnataka with the BJP to save the party.
Deve Gowda was talking to the media after ousting his close aid and Karnataka unit president CM Ibrahim who opposed the alliance with the BJP.
In Kerala, JD(S) is a major ally of the Left Democratic Front.
K C Venugopal asked CPI to clarify its stance on allowing JD(S) member K Krishnankutty in the state cabinet.
Headed by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, the JD(S) has long been a strong third player in Karnataka.
