Thank God, IITians can do more than write mediocre fiction. Three of them got together to engineer Zu Tisch, (meaning At the Table), a German- themed pub. A happy-vibed space whose rustic wall has a graphic artist’s rendition of the rail route of Bavaria, the casual seating and wooden accents aim for a cottage look and is inviting enough to let the lunch stretch to evening drinks. Owners, Mayank the foodie, Eshaan, the design-eye and Pulkit, the number cruncher make their work look chilled out. They sure hired the right crew, Chef Mukesh, excels in pub fare and the bar team is of generous spirit making a good team to feed and water the hun-gry. Try the Berlin beer, served in a fish bowl. Yep. LIP-SMACKING: The eisbein, a slowcooked lamb shank with rosemary made up for the lack of sausages the day we visited. Fork tender enough to make a case for the merits of slow cooking. German generosity of portions and lovefor meat is refl ected in the well portioned tenderloin steak with gremolata. Just remember to ask for no more than medium well. An overcooked steak is for feeding an ex. DON’T EVEN GO THERE: Was our beer battered fish a bassa? What else could have been as bland, andboring? Maybe the slice of red velvet cake? Nah, that was just dry and dull.
