Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala General Education Department has violated the Government notification that the 12-digit unique identity number (Aadhaar) of school students should be considered as the annual headcount is taken in order to determine the number of posts of teachers.

As per the government order, during the headcount on the sixth working day of an academic year the Aadhaar of students should be examined. Thus, the number of class divisions required can be determined.

However, as per the direction of the General Education Department, even those students with invalid Aadhaar too were considered while calculating the total strength.

This violates the Government's direction, sources said, adding the same happened due to a lapse on the part of the office of the General Education Director.

If the Government conducts an inspection in this regard, then the scrutiny of Aadhaar of students should have to be done all over again. The number of posts to be sanctioned in schools will change accordingly. The file related to the same is now before the consideration of the Finance Department.
