The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is accepting online applications for its merit scholarship programme for single girl children. Fresh applications from students who passed Class 10 in the 2023-24 academic year and renewal applications for those who passed in 2022-23 are now being considered.

Eligibility criteria

A) Fresh applications:

  • Applicable for students who passed Class 10 in 2023-24. They must have studied in a CBSE-affiliated school and achieved at least 70% marks in the first five subjects.
  • Monthly tuition fees: Should not exceed Rs. 2,500 for Class 10.
  • Should not exceed Rs. 3,000 for Classes 11 and 12.
  • Scholarship renewal for Class 12 is available for students who achieve 70% marks in Class 11.

B) Renewal applications:

  • For students who received the scholarship in Class 11 and wish to renew it for Class 12. A minimum of 50% marks in Class 11 is required.
  • Tuition fee limits: Class 10 tuition fee should not have exceeded Rs. 1,500.
  • For Classes 11 and 12, the fee can increase by up to 10%.

C) General conditions:

There are certain general conditions applicable to students who have passed Class 10 in 2023 or 2024. The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh. The student must be studying in CBSE-affiliated schools for Classes 10, 11, and 12. NRI students are also eligible, with a tuition fee limit of up to Rs. 6,000 per month. There will be no restrictions on receiving other scholarships alongside this one.

The scholarship applies only to single girl children, defined as the only child in a family. However, girls born in a single delivery are also eligible. Eligible students will receive Rs,1,000 per month for two years.
