Ranni: There has been several instances of foreigners getting married in Kerala in the traditional customs of the God's own country. But six-month-old Kali came all the way from France to Ayroor to have her first 'Oonu'. It was her mother's dream to conduct the 'choroonu' ceremony in a Kali temple.
Solin, a filmmaker from France, is an ardent devotee of Goddess Kali. As she wished, the ceremony was held at the Valiyaveettil Bhadrakali temple in Ayroor, Pathanamthitta district, on Sunday.
Solin's friends were also present during the function.
The choroonu, which is also known as 'annaprasana', is a Hindu ritual that marks an infant's first intake of food other than milk.
It was a dream-come-true moment for Solin as she had wanted to name her child after Goddess Kali and conduct this ceremony in a Kali temple.
Solin, who will leave for France on January 24, said that she will return with Kali to the temple next year also.
