An elderly couple who claimed to be the biological parents of Dhanush alleged that the actor-producer had submitted forged certificates before a court to refute their claim.
R Kathiresan and K Meenakshi, a couple from a nondescript hamlet near Madurai, have lodged a complaint with a Madurai city police station that the birth certificate and school transfer certificate produced by Dhanush were forged.
Kathiresan’s earlier claim that he was the father of the Tamil matinee idol had been rejected by the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court. He said that their son had eloped from the hostel and reached Chennai, where he met Tamil movie director R Kasthoori Raja.
Kathiresan and wife sought Rs 65,000 per month from Dhanush as they could no longer support themselves.
Dhanush, the son of R Kasthoori Raja, rejected the claim. He refused to undergo a DNA test as the couple demanded and said that the petitioners were misled by someone. The court had examined Dhanush’s birthmarks and said it could not find any evidence to suggest that he was the son of the petitioners.
Kathiresan’s latest complaint says that he had examined the records at the Government Women and Children’s Hospital at Egmore and the Chennai municipal corporation before he concluded that the birth certificate was forged. He said he could not find matching records in the corporation website or the hospital records.
“A certificate was issue on 1993 June 31 for a boy born on 1983 July 30 and the parents names are given as R Krishnamoorthy and Vijayalakshmi. The registration number column is left blank. This is unusual,” said S Titus, the advocate who accompanied Kathiresan to the K Puthoor police station.
He said that the later gazette notifications for change of names were contradictory too. A notification in December 2003 changes the name of R K Venkatesh Prabhu, the son of R Kasthoori Raja, to Dhanush. Another notification in February 2015 says that R Krishnamoorthy has changed his name to R Kasthoori Raja.
Titus also said that his clients were told by the police to meet commissioner Mahesh Kumar Agarwal.
