'All those who have come onboard in the movie have given their best,' says Mammootty about Abrahaminte Santhathikal.Lohithadas was an obscure but promising writer of plays before Mammootty picked him out of oblivion to write 'Thaniyavarathanam'. The rest is history. It looked as if Lal Jose was doomed to remain just another of the innumerable assistant directors who end their careers unknown in film sets when Mammootty virtually pestered him to make a film with him. After 'Maravathoor Kanavu' Lal Jose never had to turn back. Then there was Blessy, Ashiq Abu, Anwar Rasheed, Amal Neerad, Marthandan... the list seems endless. Even the hitmaker of the 80s and 90s, K Madhu, began his career with Mammootty.
Now, the latest one to join hands with Mammootty is Shaji Padoor for 'Abrahaminte Santhathikal,' which releases on Saturday.
To a question as to what his perspective is on choosing the movie, Mammootty says,"For me, this is a special project. I know Shaji since a long time. He has been assisting many films and I have realized his potential. He is a person with lots of skills and lots of virtues."
On a lighter note, Mammootty shared how the now-established personalities used to come to him seeking his blessings. "Renji had come to me before he first ventured into writing. Lohithadas came to me before writing for 'Thaniyavarthanam'. It was just recently that Marthandan came asking for my blessings. Maybe I am blessed to bless others," he said laughing.
Meanwhile, on what interested him in 'Abrahaminte Santhathikal,' he said, "The script is handled by Haneef with whom I have already worked. The movie is not confined to a cop story, rather, there is an emotional undercurrent attached to it. The making and the style of the narration is probably the best part of the movie. The first half will narrate one story and will shift to another plot, which will eventually connect back to the initial one. Although Shaji is a low-profile artist, he is as talented as any experienced person in the industry,” he said.
Talking about the cast and crew of the movie Mammootty said, "All those who have come on board the movie have given their best. While Kaniha plays a public prosecutor, Renji Panicker is a police officer. Anson is yet another promising star that you will get to see. Gopi Sunder's musical magic and Alby's cinematography all contributed to the perfect making of the film."
To the question, which was his favourite pick among all the cop characters he had done so far, he retorts,"How can I answer that. All are my favourites that's why I did them, else I wouldn't have chosen to act those roles. Each one of them is special in their own way", he concluded.
