The meal from the future is here. A group of alumni of the famed Massachusetts Institute of Technology built a robot named ‘Spyce’ that can prepare hot and delicious food by adding all the ingredients in the right amount. Smart robot chefs like ‘Spyce’ which can cook in relatively less time have taken over the kitchens in many restaurants in countries like America, Britain and China. Trade gurus say that this technology would significantly lower the cost of food.

The innovators opened a restaurant and named it after their robot 'Spyce.' As soon as you enter the restaurant you will witness a robotic kitchen with these smart machines whipping up fresh meals for a beeline of customers.

The inspiration behind this innovation was the hunger of four sporty engineers and their failed quest to find affordable nutritious food. They decided to reduce the cost of producing food to make healthy food available at reasonable prices. That is how 'Spyce' was born!

Cooks on order

‘Spyce’ can easily and perfectly cook Latin, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisine in a large-scale kitchens. The ingredients have to be loaded in separate vessels. The robot chefs will receive command when customers place the order and would immediately start cooking. They can handle more than one dish or order at a time.

The culinary art, however, still lie with humans as the recipes fed to these robots are works of chef Sam Benson hired by these engineers. He honed his craft working in many kitchens, and got his first big break as a sous chef at the Michelin-starred Café Boulud in New York City. While at Café Boulud, he was nominated to represent the US in two of the world’s most prestigious culinary competitions. They aim only at reducing labour hours by this invention.

Spyce offers a bowl-based menu that is highly customizable and packed with exciting flavour combinations highlighting vegetables’ rich flavours and textures. The ingredients are appropriately sourced, and they even offer vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options. The orders can be placed on the screens which have simple user-interface and a lot of options to choose from.

The robot chef will prepare each dish by adding the ingredients in the right amount according to the recipes which have been previously programmed into its system. The food lovers vouch that the dishes prepared by the robot chefs are incredibly delicious as the ingredients are added in the accurate measurements to suit the taste of the customer. The food is prepared in clean environment as well. It would only take up to three minutes for a robot chef to cook a delicious burger or salad, and the smart machine will also garnish the dish appetizingly before serving.

The next variant of the kitchen robot would be the ‘personal cook’ which functions on the basis of Artificial Intelligence (AI). These customized kitchen robots would prepare dishes according to our personal preference of tastes.
