There are home remedies aplenty that can, if properly administered, put the sheen back on your face. All it needs is a bit of time and patience.
Try out these 10 sure fixes. If done regularly, the way your face transforms should be proof enough of their efficacy.
1. Pimples
The best medicine for pimples is patience and a bit of honey. Gently rub in a bit of honey over the pimples and marks left by the eruptions. Allow it to stay for 15 minutes after which the face can be rinsed in warm water. A blob of touch up can then mask the pimple.
2. Pimply puffiness
It’s not just the pimple that’s embarrassing, but the puffiness and swelling around it. Here’s a remedy. Add a few eye drops (from the one to ease the red eye) on a small ball of cotton. Leave it in the freezer for a couple of minutes. Gently press the pimple and surrounding inflammation with cotton. This will bring the puffiness down.
3. Facial inflammation
The best remedy to bring down the swelling is a solution of salt. Get a salt water solution ready. Dip a towel in the solution and rub the face up and down with it. Keep going with it for about 10 minutes. The swelling will disappear and give your face a glow as well.
4. Chapped lips
Tired of constantly rubbing lip balm to dry lips? Here’s an easy way out to keep lips moist always. Dust a soft brush with peach oil, almond oil, lip balm or sebolin and rub it all over the lips for a minute or two. Keep doing this regularly for moist and beautiful lips.
5. Dry skin
Wash the face thoroughly and steam-clean it. Rub in a bit of olive oil all over and keep massaging the face for about 8 to 10 minutes. The beauty of the face lies in the regularity of the application.
6. Makeup removal
Makeup can be scrubbed off without a remover. Mix water and olive oil in a 3:1 ratio in a glass jar. Shake the mixture well. Rub off the grease and makeup with cotton dipped in the solution. No rashes, no allergies. It’s a wonder cleaner and easy on the pocket too.
7. Unwanted hair
That excess and embarrassing hair can be removed at home. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of ground oatmeal and a tablespoon of water in a bowl. Keep on mixing till the solution becomes thick and gooey. Spread it evenly over the affected areas and allow it to dry. Wash it away in hot water.
8. Dark circles
Baking soda is the best home remedy. Mix in a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water or black tea. Apply the mixture to the affected area under the eyes with a cotton pad. Leave it on and allow the liquid to dry. Wash it away after 15 minutes and rub in a good moisturizer around the eyes. For best results, repeat the exercise regularly.
9. Split ends
Here’s a remedy for dry, frizzy and dull hair. Blend together a plantain, an egg, a tablespoon of honey and half a glass of dark beer. Apply this all to the hair as you would rub in henna. Leave it on for two hours till it becomes dry on the hair. Rinse the hair with warm water and fell your strands. They turn as soft as silk. Try this out regularly once a week.
A lot of hair is lost to split ends for various reasons, the main being needless straightening and smoothening. Sleep deprivation and lack of nutrient-rich food can also make the hair lifeless and brittle.
10. For long lashes
It’s the lashes that give the eyes their luster and seductive charm. Mix in a few drops of Lavender oil with half a teaspoon of coconut oil and rub it all over the lashes from the base to the tip. For bright, long lashes, keep doing the eye oil massage at least three times a week.
