Dr Sakkariya and his wife Dr Shajeera Beegam were clear about the design of their dream home. The house had to have sufficient room for get-togethers and family togetherness. It had to be modern, contemporary, stylish and utilitarian. The designer bore all these elements in mind while doing the elevation. The 2,990 sq ft house stands loftily in Thalassery, Kannur, offering different viewing angles from the road and the inside as well.
The cladding tiles paved on the exterior walls and the insides are what give the structure its strikingly different look. An extended glass roofing is what marks the car porch where two vehicles can be comfortably housed.
The house has style, elegance and functionality. It’s been designed to give the owners the utmost in style and utility. The floors have been paved with vitrified tiles. The entire furniture has been done up with plywood and the fold ceilings have designs in plywood, gypsum and veneer. The mood lights give a warn tone and feel to the entire space.
The get-together space is what makes the house different from others of its kind. There are three verandahs for this specific purpose. Apart from the main verandah, there’s one from the dining room and another from the family living to the outside. These verandahs bring in breeze and light and keep the insides warm and cozy. Formal windows have been given a go-by. Instead, the multiwood partitions in CNC cutting, are what heightens the elegance and style quotient of the interiors.
The staircase has been designed with wood and stainless steel. The staircase wall, elegantly designed with cladding tiles makes for a distinct design. The first staircase landing has been converted to a study area and the family living finds space under the study.
It’s a six-seat dining set. An elegantly designed wooden ceiling is what separates the dining area from the rest of the room.
There are four bedrooms including one for the kids. The kids’ room has bright design elements. All the bedrooms have wardrobes, attached bathrooms and study areas. One of the bedrooms up enjoys the facility of a balcony.
The modern modular kitchen has warm tones, is chic and stylish. All the cupboards have been done up in marine plywood.
The modest garden space looks bright with its small lawn and collection of plants. On the whole, the house is elegant, rich in look and extremely functional.
