Think twice before sounding your vehicle horn: Mohanlal

I have heard people honking the vehicle horn indiscriminately when they are stuck in a traffic block. But vehicles caught in a traffic jam will be crawling even when you sound the horn or not. Those honking also knows this, but their random honking is part of their habit. When we see obstruction in front on the road our brain tells us, "Sound horn...a long one!"

There is no use in issuing a proclamation not to sound horn one fine morning. When we learn driving it is taught to us to sound horn. Along with the driving licence, it has been fed to your mind that the vehicle in front of you will give way only if you sound the horn.

I also used to sound horn when I used to drive. Whoever goes outside India will come to know that there is no honking in most countries abroad.

We have quit smoking in public places. Likewise we have to stop the unwanted use of horn, but then you may wonder there are other irritating noises around us.

Any sound should not rise beyond a point. We have to teach ourselves that we have to keep a check on our voice even when we talk inside the house. The audio level of our TV should be kept at a level that is audible only for us. The practice of keeping high volumes should be avoided. Many family disputes even start over the TV volume.

Sometimes I keep myself away from all sounds. When we hear the ripples of water brushing against a small rock, we realize there are beautiful natural sounds that the world has stored for us to listen.

When we listen to such sounds and enjoy it, we slowly begin to change.

Next time we should think twice before we place our hands on the horn.
