Wayanad: Even when rest of the Kerala is reeling under scorching summer heat, weather changed in some parts of the district Monday afternoon as rains lashed Sulthan Bathery with hailstones.
The rapidly changing weather condition saw a number of snap hailstones batter Sulthan Bathery.
Roads and terraces were filled with hailstones after the heavy shower.
According to residents, they have not seen a hailstorm like the one on Monday. Though it didn't last long, the hailstorm forced people to seek shelter.
(Any thunderstorm which produces hail that reaches the ground is a hailstorm. Each of the irregular lumps of ice is a hailstone.)
