Thiruvananthapuram: A woman police officer posted at the police headquarters here has filed a complaint against police chief T.P. Senkumar challenging her transfer on Wednesday.

Kumari Beena, a junior superintendent who headed the 'T Branch', was shifted to the unimportant 'U Branch' by Senkumar in an order he issued soon after assuming charge as the police chief following a Supreme Court order.

Behera wanted police stations to be painted brown. Senkumar asks why?

Beena filed a complaint with chief secretary Nalini Netto, alleging that her transfer was by means of flouting rules.

Senkumar ordered the shifting of Beena and brought in a substitute, all in two orders and two hours.

Beena was shifted out from the section from where documents cannot be obtained even under the Right to Information Act (RTI). Staff at the police headquarters confide that she was moved out for refusing to concede files of Puttingal fire tragedy to someone who sought it under RTI.

C.S. Sajeev Chandran, who was junior superintendent at the N. Branch, was named her replacement by evening. However, he refused to take up that duty, and Suresh Krishna was brought in from Peroorkada Special Armed Police.
