Thrissur: The Mathilakom fake currency note case involving two expelled BJP youth leaders will be handed over to Crime Branch for further investigation. The move has been made following allegations that a higher level conspiracy is involved in the case. The seized machines for printing the fake notes will be sent for forensic test.
The youth, who had been absconding after the police found counterfeit notes and printing machine from his house, was arrested Sunday night. He has been identified as Rajeev Erachery who is the brother of Rakesh, who was arrested on the day of the raid last week. Rajeev was nabbed from the house of a friend at Mannuthy here. He was taken to Irinjalakkuda DySP's office for interrogation.
The arrested claimed that they purchased the printing equipment on June 10 and had been printing fake currency notes for two weeks.

Both Rajeev and Rakesh, who were office-bearers of the BJP's feeder outfits, were expelled from the party following the raid last week.
Counterfeit notes to the tune of nearly Rs 1.5 lakh and devices for printing them were seized from their house.
The raid was conducted based on complaints that Rakesh was lending money illegally.
