Malappuram: Mayhem descended on the civil station road area here on Monday as the collectorate march by a group of Muslim Students' Federation (MSF) activists turned violent.

After blocking the civil station road, the protesters clashed with the police and threw stones at them. The police resorted to lathi charge and used teargas shells to disperse the agitating mob.

The march of MSF district committee in Malappuram was organized to seek additional seats in plus one in schools to accommodate all applicants in the district.

T.P. Harris, MSF district president, was seriously injured in the police action.

Indian Union Muslim League district president K.N.A. Khader and MLAs P. Ubaidulla and T.V. Ibrahim visited the protest venue and intervened to bring the situation under control.
