Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated action against state secretary V.V. Rajesh, who was accused of leaking details of an internal probe into the medical college affiliation scam. Rajesh has been removed from organizational responsibilities, Manorama News reported Wednesday.
The action was initiated by state BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan as per the directions of the central leadership. Action was also initiated against a Yuva Morcha leader for printing fake receipt leaflets and illegal fund raising during the BJP national council meet in Kozhikode in September last year.
The BJP's Kerala unit had come under a cloud after the internal committee report claimed that Rs 5.60 crore had been given to a party functionary for getting the approval of Medical Council of India (MCI) for a college in Varkala.
R.S. Vinod, convener of the BJP's co-operative cell in the state, was expelled from the primary membership, hours after the contents of the report, reportedly submitted to state party chief last month, surfaced in a section of media.
