New Delhi: The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has reportedly sought an explanation from the Kerala government over a district administration's order that asked RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat not to hoist the national flag at a school in Palakkad.
The PMO has sought an explanation from the chief secretary, after BJP Palakkad president complained, Manorama News reported Tuesday.
The district collector had issued a memo to the school, categorically stating that it was inappropriate for a political leader to hoist the national flag in an aided school. The collector also said that only a teacher or an elected representative of the people was allowed to do so.
However, disregarding the order, Bhagwat had hoisted the flag on the Independence Day. The issue had kicked up a row with the ruling CPM asking the Pinarayi government to file a case against the RSS chief.
Though the CM had sought legal advice over this, the police are yet to take any action against Bhagwat.
