Alappuzha: The BJP has become a corporate plagued by corruption and factionalism, SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said, making it clear that the BDJS, founded by him, should sever its ties with the ruling party at the Center.
Vellappally on Thursday said the BDJS should join the CPM-led LDF. He said the CPM should allow the BDJS to join the front.
Vellappally, who has been accusing the BJP of not keeping its promises made ahead of the Assembly polls, came out with the harsh allegations at a time when the BJP has been caught up in the cash-for-medical affiliation scam.
The BDJS was founded by Vellappally ahead of the Assembly elections in May and has been an ally of the BJP ever since its formation. Vellappally's son and SNDP Yogam vice-president Thushar Vellappally is the BDJS president and the BJP-led NDA's convener in Kerala.
Thushar is reportedly not in favor of quitting the NDA. The cracks between the BJP and the BDJS widened after the former reportedly refused to allot three of the seven seats it demanded for the Lok Sabha polls in 2019. The dispute erupted over Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, and Palakkad Lok Sabha segments.
The BDJS's discontent is likely to affect the BJP's plans for the Lok Sabha elections wherein the party is trying to make a breakthrough.
