“Antony had only good intentions. But if only Antony acted without considering political rivalries, the historic struggle might not have had an unfortunate end,” said the BJP MP, while inaugurating the land struggle declaration convention of the Janathipadya Rashtriya Sabha (JRS) here.
The Muthanga agitation by landless tribes in Wayanad in February 2003 had turned violent with two people getting killed in the police firing.
The MP also said that though he did not have adherence to any political parties then, he had pleaded with many leaders to take a positive stand towards the land struggle and the former chief minister knows about it.
“The society would enjoy a positive vibe and peace only when the land is given to those who love earth. The forest land rightfully belongs to them. The fact that this group of people still does not posses their own homes or establishments should be evaluated emotionally.
“The politicians who shower love on the homeless tribals during elections shows complete apathy towards their cause and plight once they get elected,” he said. The MP also added that the land struggle declaration by the JRS would bring in a welcome change.
