Kochi: The prosecution in the actress abduction case on Wednesday informed the Kerala High Court that arrested Malayalam actor Dileep had offered Rs 3 crore for abduction of the actress in February this year.
The prosecution informed that Dileep offered Pulsar Suni, the main accused, Rs 1.5 crore for carrying out the abduction, and in case he gets caught in the act by the police, the compensation would be doubled.
The actress was abducted while on way by road from Thrissur to Kochi. The court posted the verdict on this for a later date.
The prosecution also got permission from the court to take a statement before a magistrate from popular singer, TV and film artiste Rimy Tomy and three others.
Kavya's role
The prosecution stood firm on its stance that Dileep should not be granted bail as he is likely to influence witnesses once he is out of jail.
Dileep's wife Kavya Madhavan's driver has already tried to influence a key witness in the case, the prosecution told the court.
Kavya's driver Sudheer called the manager of Laksyah, a boutique run by her, more than 40 times, the prosecution told the court.
The investigation team has said that the main accused, Pulsar Suni, had visited Laksyah after committing the crime.
The prosecution also mentioned tenth accused Vipin's statement against Dileep. Main accused Pulsar Suni had told Vipin that Dileep offered Rs 1.5 crore to him to commit the crime. Dileep also promised to double the payment if the actress files a police complaint against him.
The court asked the prosecution if the police have found the mobile phone used by Suni to record a video of the assault on the actress. To this, the prosecution said it was the main question faced by the investigators. The phone is considered a crucial evidence in the case. A lawyer named Pratheesh Chacko, who had represented Suni in the initial stages, has told the police that he destroyed the phone. However, the police have not believed this.
The counsel representing Dileep told the court that the actor was ready to abide by any condition for bail.
