Palakkad: The CPM leadership has found itself in the eye of a storm after a local committee member from Palakkad, who is wanted in multiple cases including an attempt on the life of a CPI leader, visited finance minister T M Thomas Isaac and posted a set of photographs on his Facebook page.

The accused, CPM Thirumittakod local committee member Mano Mohanan, reportedly visited Isaac at his official residence in Thiruvananthapuram on November 23 and shared photos in which he was seen sitting next to the minister.

Mano Mohanan is an accused in three criminal cases registered at the Chalissery police station.

He, along with 11 others, were booked for threatening and attempting to kill CPI leader Injeerivalappil Hamsa by hitting him with a two-wheeler on November 13.

A case had also been registered against him for attacking a family residing in Akilanam. Mano Mohanan and three others allegedly barged into the house of Narikuzhiyil Bhargavi and assaulted the elderly woman and her daughter-in-law on July 23. The gang also threatened the woman's granddaughter with a knife.

It is said that the family was attacked after Bhargavi accused them of damaging her son's vehicles.

There were allegations that the police, bowing to political pressure, did not make any attempts to arrest him in both the cases.

Mano Mohanan, who is the president of the parent-teacher association at a local school, and a group of teachers of the same school, visited Isaac after attending a function in the capital.

The minister has also shared the photographs on his Facebook page. There were comments below the post that read: "The man sitting with you is an accused in criminal cases."

Some of them even posted copies of the FIRs of the cases against Mano Mohanan in the comment section.
