Thiruvananthapuram: In a major reshuffle in the state police department, Anil Kanth will replace B Sandhya as the ADGP, south zone.
ADGP Padmakumar, who faced action after being named in the Solar Commission report, has been named the new transport commissioner. The prominent among the changes is the transfer of B Sandhya, who has been the ADGP, south zone, for more than a year now.
Since the Pinarayi government assumed charge, sensational cases like the Jisha murder case in Perumbavoor and the actress assault case were handled by Sandhya. However, she has been relieved from the key law and order post and given the relatively unimportant role of State Police Training College chief. The transfer has been described as a natural one by the home department.
Anik Kanth, who was the transport commissioner, will become the ADGP, south zone. Marketfed MD ADGP K Padmakumar will be the new transport commissioner.
DGP A Hemachandran, who lost his post as crime branch chief after being severely criticized by Justice Sivarajan in the Solar Commission report, has not been given any key posting.
Kochi Range IG P Vijayan has been named IG, administration, police headquarters. Vijay Sakhare will be the new Kochi Range IG.
The rejig of three ADGPs is seen as a precursor to a bigger reshuffle in the department.
