Binoy KodiyeriThiruvananthapuram: Facing allegations of financial fraud from a businessman, CPM Kerala secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son has released a “clearance certificate” from the Dubai police to prove that he did not face any criminal case in the emirate. The certificate, dated Thursday (25-01-2018), says Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan “is of good conduct and behavior until the issuance date of the certificate”.
Another document from a Dubai court also proves that Binoy has no cases pending against him. Binoy had earlier said that there were no cases pending against him in Dubai, as soon as a businessman accused him of fraud amounting to Rs 13 crore. He had said that the cases were settled earlier, a stand echoed by Kodiyeri in the CPM state secretariat meeting.
The complainant, Rakhul Krishna, alleged that he had facilitated a loan of 3,13,200 dirhams (Rs 53.61 lakh) for Binoy to buy an Audi car and lend 45 lakh dirhams (Rs 7.7 crore) to Binoy to conduct businesses in India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Nepal.
Binoy had defaulted on the car loan and went back on his promise to repay the money by June 2016, Krishna said. He had claimed Rs 13 crore from Binoy, including the amount due to the bank and court expenses.
